Scott is capable to inspire and open an actor so that Chekhov method is gradually mastered without pressure, almost organically, creating the feeling that Chekhov exercises are necessary for an actor like water is for human being. Why? Because they are simple and at the same time creative and because their product is easy to recognize. Scott leads us through work as a non-pressuring, natural authority whom I can trust. Method Chekhov is for me a part of mental hygiene which, by disciplined exercise, leads to the feeling of free and whole expression on stage.

Working with Scott is a great gift for actors. As an experienced actor, he understands basic material of actor’s work, fabric that dreams are made of. Because of that, he is an excellent collaborator for the actor in her own research of imagination and inspiration. As an experienced director, Scott has a rare talent for profound and precise reading of the play, which he translates into inspiring tasks for actors, to which actors react sincerely, inspired and from their own imagination. The result of such creative process is the theatre that is communicative and touching; the theatre that offers exchange of real and true experience between actor and audience.

Scott’s workshops give great acting experience and encouragement. Scott is skilled to very correctly notice what an actor needs, and to push her to the limits at which the actor can give her best. Scott awakens in the actor the understanding that work is most important, that practice leads to improvement, and that great workshops experience is irreplaceable.
Another workshop with Scott is approaching. I’m counting days. His way of work through Chekhov method was for me an absolutely new experience, so much different than everything we did at Academy. And then again so familiar and recognizable, as if all of that is a part of my acting “tool” from long time ago. Chekhov method is extremely practical, even simple, and most importantly fully applicable to creative work. With training the actor has a feeling that everything is going smooth for her. Those few days that workshop lasts I am having a feeling that I know everything and that I am capable without problems to play even the most complex of characters. I gain great motivation, inspiration, joy of play and limitless pleasure in our work and colleagues.

Here are a few things Scott told me that I consider important so I wrote them down. Acting is about me, here on ground, not some idea of a character far away from living world. I should speak with the sense of truth. I have a body and I am the master of my body. As an actor I give myself fully to my artistic choice, goal and partner. I am always a human being with senses and common sense. As an actor I have my attitude about everything I see and feel

Involving Scott Fielding working with actors, not that the actors just become aware of how to lead their rehearsals to the opening night, but they truly become aware of what they can or cannot do with their talent no matter what kind of part they are in. From now on, every new part the actor is taking was not necessarily actors journey from the very beginning to the unknown end. Scott built his own SYSTEM that actors embrace as their own as they felt the freedom of their spirit, voice, body... working with Mr. Fielding is still a great gift to the actors and theatre. It is a true freedom of acting art.

I warmly recommend Scott's workshops to students and to professional actors/ actresses. I had the good fortune to meet Scott and his work many years ago. Scott is a very experienced and internationally recognized acting teacher. If you're interested in Michael Chekhov method - he's a teacher to trust! You'll be inspired.

I met Scott Fielding several years ago when I was the Director of Bitef Festival and we organized a workshop for him. From that moment, Scott became our friend and most welcome guest in many of our theaters. There are a lot of reasons for that but at least two I find very important: he is a great collaborator and his Chekhov method workshop is a new experience for our actors, very creative and inspiring for them.

All I have learned, worked, conquered on academy Scott filled in with merely ten days’ work on workshop. Scott pushed us to conquer ourselves, our worlds and advance our gifts. We were liberating our own potentials by which we surprised ourselves too. We were alive on stage, present. Scott brought us to freedom that is almost extinguished in our theaters, but which is essence of artist’s being. We were studying, practicing, revealing, creating from deepest corners of our beings and all in search for truth on stage.
